Haunted Hacks for Halloween Decorating!

Make Halloween extra enchanting this year with these expert tips and tricks

It’s the most wand-erful time of the year! For many kids, Halloween is the most exciting event in the diary. Not only do they get to dress up as the character of their dreams, but they also get candy in abundance and the opportunity to help decorate the home in all its ghoulish glory.

Here we speak to top Interior Stylist and Creative Director Sania Pell, who works behind the scenes on our magical Meri Meri photoshoots. Follow her top tips for eerie elegance…

1. Porchscaping Tips

First impressions count! If you want to wow trick or treaters, multiples of decorations like paper bats, witches’ hats and spiders, make a statement around the porch. Hang honeycomb garlands and streamers around the front door for added impact.

2. Mix Real and Paper Pumpkins

Honeycomb pumpkins work everywhere from the table to the porch and look striking mixed in with real pumpkins.

3. Get Prepped in Advance

Small carved gourds can be prepared well in advance and kept in the freezer, they then keep longer and have a lovely frosty quality.

4. Try Painting or Decorating Instead of Carving

If you find pumpkin carving too time consuming, pumpkins can be painted or covered in stickers for an equally striking look.

5. Just Add Spiders!

Your mailbox will be delightful (only slightly frightful!) with Meri Meri paper spiders cascading from it.

6. Decorate the Windows

Windows frame items well and are a natural space to hang decorations such as skeletons and chandeliers.

7. Join In with the Fun!

Serve Halloween-themed mocktails with fun Halloween names such as Spooky Spider Fizz, Zombie Punch or Ghoul-ade Goblets (see our special color changing lemonade recipe here). Serve them in the honeycomb Halloween cups.
